Grid Connected Solar PV Concept
“Photovoltaic” is the science of the direct conversion of solar irradiance to DC electricity. The photovoltaic effect is defined as the generation of an electromotive force as a result of ionizing radiation. Photovoltaic devices which convert solar energy to electricity are called solar cells.
The solar cells produce direct current so as to power the equipment or to charge a battery. Solar cells are closely packed behind a sheet made of glass to form a solar module. The Solar Panel is then used in a larger photovoltaic system as a component. A linked connection of solar panels is called a photovoltaic array.
in a PV array, the PV panels are first connected in series in order to obtain the required voltage and then the ‘individual strings’ are connected in parallel to provide the desired current to the system.
